Privacy & Cookie Policy
Last updated: 16 July 2026
Trades of Bath ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use this website, how we use it, and the rights you have under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who we are
This website is published by Watt & Co. Electrical Ltd (company number 12509996), the "data controller" responsible for your personal data.
- Address: [Your registered office address]
- Email: bath@tradesofbath.co.uk
- ICO registration number: [Your ICO registration number]
2. The information we collect
We only collect what we need:
- Enquiry details: if you complete our "Advertise with us" form, we collect your name, business name, email address, phone number and anything you write in the message.
- Technical data: like most websites, our server automatically records limited information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, in standard server logs used to keep the site secure and working.
- Cookies: small essential cookies needed for the site to function (see section 8).
We do not collect special category data, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
3. How we use your information, and our lawful basis
| What we do | Data used | Lawful basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Respond to your advertising enquiry and discuss listing your business | Name, business, email, phone, message | Legitimate interests (to respond to you); and where it leads to an agreement, steps prior to entering a contract |
| Keep the website secure and running properly | Technical data, essential cookies | Legitimate interests (running a safe, working website) |
| Comply with our legal obligations | As required | Legal obligation |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered your rights and only process data in ways you would reasonably expect.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data, and we never share it for third-party marketing. We share data only with trusted service providers who help us run the website and respond to you (for example, our website hosting provider and email provider), and only so they can perform those services for us. We may also disclose information if required by law.
5. Where your data is stored
Your data is stored on servers located in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA). If any provider processes data outside the UK/EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards (such as UK-approved contractual clauses) are in place.
6. How long we keep it
We keep enquiry information only as long as necessary to deal with your enquiry and any advertising relationship that follows, and for a reasonable period afterwards (normally up to 24 months from our last contact), after which it is securely deleted. Server logs are kept only for a short period for security purposes.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- be informed about how your data is used (this policy);
- request access to the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased ("right to be forgotten");
- restrict or object to our processing;
- data portability; and
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at bath@tradesofbath.co.uk. We will respond within one month. Exercising your rights is free of charge.
8. Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. This website uses only the essential cookies below. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking, and our fonts are hosted on our own server, so using this site does not share your data with third parties like Google.
| Cookie | Purpose | Type | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
tob_consent | Remembers your cookie choice so we don't ask again | Strictly necessary | 6 months |
tob_admin | Keeps the site administrator signed in (only set for our staff, never for normal visitors) | Strictly necessary | When the browser closes |
Because these cookies are strictly necessary for the website to work, they don't require consent, but our banner lets you acknowledge them and gives you a clear choice before we would ever introduce any optional (for example, analytics) cookies in future. You can also control cookies through your browser settings.
9. How to complain
If you have a concern, please contact us first at bath@tradesofbath.co.uk and we'll do our best to help. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):
- Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF
- Helpline: 0303 123 1113
- Website: ico.org.uk
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
